Minority group equipped with soap making and pastry skills

Over 35 individuals from a minority group have gained vital entrepreneurial skills through a collaboration between the Developing Women for Skills and Opportunities Initiative (DWOSO) and the Accra Central Municipal Assembly. Supported by the African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF), the initiative focused on training participants in soap making and pastry creation. They learned various soap making techniques, including liquid soap and bleach production, along with baking 13 types of pastries such as cakes, doughnuts, and meat pies. This program aims to empower women by enabling them to start their own businesses, generating income to support themselves and their families.

IWD 2024: NGO holds women leadership summit

The Developing Women for Skills and Opportunities (DWoSO) Initiative, dedicated to advancing women and girls through education and empowerment, recently hosted a Women’s Leadership Summit in Effiduase, Ashanti region, to commemorate International Women’s Day. In collaboration with the Widows Association and a Christian women’s group (S.D.A), DWoSO empowered over 140 women. The summit, themed “Inspire Inclusion,” emphasized gender equality and economic empowerment. Attendees received education on health, including HIV/AIDS prevention, fostering unity and support among participants.

DWoSO Initiative launches Ringleaders Project

The Developing Women for Skills and Opportunities (DWoSO) Initiative has launched the Ringleaders Project in the Sekyere East District of the Ashanti Region, targeting girls’ prefects from local schools. Aimed at nurturing leadership abilities and fostering confidence, the initiative gathered 55 girls from 22 schools. Led by Beatrice Antwiwaa, DWoSO’s Community Outreach Lead, the project focused on leadership principles, communication, conflict resolution, and goal setting. Participants expressed gratitude for the opportunity to develop essential skills, positioning them for future leadership roles and contributing to community progress.
