DWoSO Initiative in partnership with the Twifo Hemang Education Directorate on the 11th October, celebrated the International Day of the Girl Child with some school girls in the Twifo Hemang District.

The commemoration was graced by representations of six different schools. This year’s theme, The Digital Girl Child was discussed looking at challenges; the gender gab, access and the prosperities of the digital market place.

Participants were motivated and inspired to shift from “traditional and culturally” defined gender jobs to STEM and for that matter Digital careers. By so doing we discussed the income variations and disparities that leaves women behind as low income earners to inspire young girls to aim at higher paid jobs.

Some of the girls were linked to mentors of their choice. Sanitary Pads, books and other stationeries were shared. We will continue to monitor the girls to ensure sustainable growth of these girls.
